Camp Reach for the Stars

Camp Reach for the Stars is an event that continues to be near and dear to our hearts. This is a weekend-long, no-cost summer camp and is the only program of its kind in San Luis Obispo County. Our goal at Camp is to give all kids coping with cancer the chance to be kids—an experience often taken away or put on hold by the disease. It allows the children to shed the hefty “cancer patient” label. While at camp, the children will be able to let loose and have fun, partaking in normal summer camp activities, all while surrounded by fellow campers and counselors who know firsthand what they are going through. While our goal is to give the families a fun-filled weekend to remember forever, Camp Directors Dr. Jim Malone, Jessica Malone, NP, and Mary Mott-Okimoto, NP are committed to meeting any and all of the children’s medical needs. Children, parents and siblings are all included at Camp to get together, share ideas and resources and support one another. The Olympics-themed weekend hosted over 25 local families filled with games, family competitions, arts and crafts and back to nature activities. It is the perfect opportunity for the entire family to relax and enjoy!

Camp Reach for the Stars in 2020 will be held May 15-17. For volunteer or sponsorship opportunities, call our office at (805) 547-1914.
